Cisco has identified a critical vulnerability in its Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC) Software, which enables unauthenticated remote attackers to gain root access to affected devices. The vulnerability was discovered during internal security testing by Cisco researcher Brandon Sakai. It presents a significant risk to enterprise network infrastructure due to an improperly created system process that starts during the device's boot sequence.
Attackers can exploit this flaw by sending crafted HTTP requests to the targeted FMC web interface, bypassing authentication protocols entirely. Successful exploitation allows attackers to execute malicious scripts and gain full control over the operating system, potentially altering security policies and monitoring network traffic.

As of March 2026, Cisco has not observed any public exploitation of this vulnerability.
