GitHub has announced the general availability of Claude Opus 4.5, an advanced AI model developed by Anthropic, across its Copilot platform.
The model is available through the chat model picker in agent, ask, and edit modes.
For organizations using Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise, administrators must manually enable access to Claude Opus 4.5 by opting in through the Copilot settings and activating the new Claude Opus 4.5 policy. Once enabled, all users within the organization will see the model option in the model picker across supported integrated development environments.
Individual plan subscribers can enable Claude Opus 4.5 independently by selecting it in the model picker within any supported IDE. Users will receive a one-time confirmation prompt to activate the model for their account.
GitHub notes that users who do not immediately see the model option should check back later, as the rollout continues across all accounts.
