The World Meteorological Organization has reported an increase in temperatures across the Arab region, with significant impacts. The year 2024 has been recorded as the hottest year in the Arab region.

The year 2024 has been recorded as the hottest year in the Arab region.
According to the "State of the Climate in the Arab Region" report, temperatures are increasing at twice the global average. This situation has further intensified socio-economic challenges such as rapid urbanization, conflict, poverty, and population growth, emphasizing the necessity for enhanced resilience and investment in risk reduction and water security.
The report, compiled by the WMO in collaboration with the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia and the League of Arab States, aims to support decision-making in this climate-vulnerable region, which includes 15 of the world's most water-scarce countries.
