Cognizant Hit With Multiple US Class-Action Lawsuits Following TriZetto Data Breach

Cognizant Technology Solutions is currently facing multiple class-action lawsuits following a data breach at TriZetto Provider Solutions (TPS), its healthcare claims processing subsidiary.

The lawsuits, filed in federal courts in New Jersey and Missouri, allege that the company inadequately protected sensitive personal information and delayed disclosing the security incident.

According to court filings, unauthorized access to TPS systems occurred as early as November 2024. Cognizant discovered the breach on October 2, 2025, indicating that personal data was exposed for nearly a year without the company's knowledge. The breach impacted at least 100 individuals across several states, including Arizona and California.

The compromised information includes Social Security numbers, financial account details, and home addresses. These types of data are particularly susceptible to exploitation for identity theft, fraud, and other malicious activities.

The lawsuits accuse Cognizant and TriZetto of failing to promptly notify affected individuals after the breach was discovered. They also criticize the lack of transparency in public statements regarding the incident, highlighting insufficient details about the root cause and remedial measures taken.
