CrowdStrike to Acquire Identity Security Startup SGNL in $740 Million Deal

CrowdStrike has announced an agreement to acquire SGNL, a company specializing in identity-first security, for $740 million. This acquisition is designed to enhance CrowdStrike's Falcon Next-Gen Identity Security platform.

The acquisition is a strategic response to the increasing complexity of identity protection in cloud environments. It addresses the needs of protecting both human and non-human identities, including AI agents, which have proliferated alongside the adoption of cloud identity providers and SaaS applications.

The integration of SGNL will address the expanded attack surface created by the growth of cloud identities and AI-powered applications. Non-human identities, such as service accounts and API keys, often function as high-privilege accounts with access to critical resources.

SGNL's technology introduces a runtime access enforcement layer between identity providers and cloud resources, enabling continuous, context-aware authorization.
