Two adjacent four-story buildings collapsed overnight on Tuesday in Fez, resulting in 22 fatalities. This marks the second fatal collapse in the city this year. Affected families are awaiting the outcome of the technical assessments and subsequent decisions from the authorities before they can return to their homes.
The cause of the collapse remains unknown, and an investigation has been initiated. The buildings were constructed in 2006 as part of an initiative known as “City Without Slums.”
Fez is Morocco’s third-largest city, characterized by its historical significance and economic challenges.
