A critical vulnerability, identified as CVE-2026-1731, has been discovered in BeyondTrust’s remote support software. This vulnerability is being actively exploited, allowing attackers to deploy the VShell backdoor and SparkRAT remote access trojan, leading to full system compromise.
The vulnerability exists in the thin-scc-wrapper component, which handles WebSocket connections. It allows unauthenticated attackers to execute operating system commands as the "site user," potentially resulting in data theft and service disruption. The flaw arises from insufficient input sanitization, where command substitution constructs can be embedded into version strings, enabling arbitrary command execution.
