As digital systems become more complex, users often encounter challenges in understanding the infrastructure that influences their decision-making. Whether it's navigating medical recovery or ensuring mobile connectivity during international travel, users may face uncertainty without a clear understanding of the underlying technical systems.
Jingyuan Fang, a New York City-based product designer, has transitioned from industrial design to user experience (UX) design in the gaming industry. She holds a master's degree from Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center and has worked in interactive entertainment and complex consumer systems.
Recovera: AI-Assisted Orthopedic Recovery
Fang independently designed Recovera , an AI-assisted platform for orthopedic recovery. The platform aims to provide actionable insights for patients experiencing unexpected pain during recovery without immediate medical consultation. Fang developed a structured symptom evaluation framework that organizes patient-reported pain into interpretable pathways, establishing clear severity indicators and escalation thresholds. This system offers explainable recommendations and progression-aware updates to assist patients in acting appropriately while maintaining clear boundaries for seeking professional care.

Travelers often face uncertainty regarding mobile plan functionality at their destinations. Fang designed a travel readiness framework that provides immediate clarity on coverage status, carrier compatibility, and data sufficiency before departure. This system allows for proactive adjustments, such as network switching or data expansion, to ensure connectivity during travel.
Fang led efforts to facilitate the transition from single-network plans to multi-network services, simplifying the user experience. By integrating speed testing and streamlining the switching process, users can make informed decisions about network selection without needing to understand telecom infrastructure intricacies.
Fang's work on Recovera has been recognized with a 2025 MUSE Design Awards Gold distinction and honors from the International Design Awards (IDA) and the C2A Design Awards. Her contributions in telecommunications have been implemented in consumer environments through US Mobile, a highly ranked carrier in the United States.
