Meta has announced the acquisition of Manus, an AI startup known for its development of a general-purpose AI agent. The acquisition aims to integrate Manus's technology into Meta's existing AI tools, enhancing them with capabilities in market research, coding, and data analysis.
Manus has developed an AI agent capable of autonomous operation across various tasks, including research and automation, without requiring ongoing human supervision. Since its launch, the agent has processed over 147 trillion tokens and enabled the creation of more than 80 million virtual computers, indicating significant utilization across diverse applications.
The AI agent features an execution layer, a software component that transforms advanced AI models into actionable systems. This functionality allows the agent to complete tasks rather than merely providing answers or recommendations. Manus will continue operations from its base in Singapore, maintaining its subscription service for existing customers.
