A sophisticated vishing campaign targeted a corporate environment in November 2025, as detailed by the Microsoft Detection and Response Team. This attack leveraged trust, collaboration platforms, and Windows tools to gain unauthorized access, bypassing conventional software exploit methodologies.
The attacker used Microsoft Teams voice calls to impersonate IT support personnel. This method is increasingly used due to its perceived legitimacy and low technical requirements. After two unsuccessful attempts, the attacker convinced an employee to provide remote access via Quick Assist, a Windows remote assistance utility.
Once access was obtained through Quick Assist, the attacker directed the compromised user to a spoofed credential-harvesting website. Corporate credentials entered here initiated a multi-stage payload delivery.
