The U.S. District Court in Washington, DC, has denied a request by Elon Musk to transfer an ongoing Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) lawsuit to Texas. The lawsuit concerns Musk's delayed disclosure of his stake in Twitter. Judge Sparkle Sooknanan ruled that despite Musk's claims of inconvenience due to his busy schedule, his substantial resources allow him to manage his commitments effectively.

The SEC filed the lawsuit in January, alleging that Musk delayed the disclosure of his initial 5% stake in Twitter by 11 days, which enabled him to acquire additional shares at lower prices. The regulatory body is seeking a civil fine and the return of $150 million that Musk allegedly saved through these actions. Musk's legal team is working to have the case dismissed.

According to the court's decision, Judge Sooknanan noted that Texas judges handle larger caseloads than her court, allowing her to address the case more swiftly. Musk, who resides in Austin, Texas, argued that the litigation in Washington, DC, would impose significant burdens on him due to his demanding work schedule.

Elon Musk's businesses, including Tesla, SpaceX, and the Boring Company, are based in Texas. The court also rejected Musk's alternative request to move the case to Manhattan, where he faces a separate lawsuit from former Twitter shareholders.
