Ukraine denies these claims, stating that they are fabricated by Moscow to justify further aggression.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov reported that the alleged attack was intended to disrupt diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the conflict. He indicated that Russia's military knows the appropriate response measures. Peskov emphasized that the diplomatic impact would be a tougher negotiating stance from Russia.
In contrast, Ukraine refuted the existence of such an attack. Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha criticized the Russian claims as unfounded and intended to undermine the peace process. He highlighted a lack of evidence provided by Moscow and described the allegations as a signature tactic of false claims.
Russia claims that 91 long-range drones targeted President Vladimir Putin’s residence, all intercepted by air defense systems, with no injuries reported. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed optimism about achieving peace in Ukraine, suggesting a resolution could be possible in the coming weeks. They underscored the need for transparency in negotiations, particularly from Russia.
Key issues remain unresolved, including the status of the Donbas region, which Russia wants Ukraine to cede. Ukraine, supported by U.S. security guarantees, seeks to maintain its territorial integrity, which is constitutionally protected.
Amidst diplomatic efforts, Ukraine reported Russian attacks on infrastructure in the Odesa region, affecting the Black Sea ports of Pivdennyi and Chornomorsk. Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba stated that a Panama-flagged ship loaded with grain was damaged, and oil storage tanks were hit, resulting in one injury. Despite the attacks, the ports remain operational.
