On Sat, Dec 27, 2025, Russia conducted drone and missile strikes on Kyiv, Ukraine. These attacks resulted in the death of at least one individual and left a significant portion of the city without heating. The strikes commenced in the early hours of Saturday, with an air alert in effect for nearly 10 hours.
The attacks resulted in the death of a 47-year-old woman and injuries to at least 22 other individuals, including two children. The city’s mayor and regional governor provided these details. Additionally, a third of Kyiv experienced heating outages, with temperatures near freezing. Approximately 320,000 households in the broader Kyiv region, excluding the city itself, lost power.
According to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the attack involved around 500 drones and 40 missiles targeting energy facilities and civilian infrastructure. The air raid alert concluded at 11:20am local time (09:20 GMT).
