Following an overnight strike on Tue, Oct 10, 2025, involving 465 drones and 19 missiles, Ukraine reported downing 405 drones and 15 missiles. The attack resulted in power outages for approximately 750,000 Ukrainians, 20 injuries, and the death of a seven-year-old boy. The cold autumn weather reportedly reduced the effectiveness of Ukraine’s air defenses by 20-30 percent.
Russia has increased the use of air attack methods by 1.3 times over the past month, according to Ukrainian commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskii. These include first-person view (FPV) drones and air-launched glide bombs, in addition to artillery and multiple launch rocket systems. Long-range Shahed drones are also being used to target front-line areas.
The recent air strikes have prompted discussions between Ukraine and its allies. President Zelenskyy has requested additional air defenses to protect 203 key facilities in Ukraine.
