United States President Donald Trump acknowledged the contributions of UK soldiers following comments regarding their role in Afghanistan. Trump noted that 457 UK soldiers lost their lives in the conflict, emphasizing their bravery and describing them as "among the greatest of all warriors." This statement was made to address tensions with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who had criticized Trump's earlier remarks.

Other NATO allies expressed disapproval of Trump's comments. Leaders from Italy, Poland, and France also responded critically. The UK, along with numerous NATO countries, contributed troops to the Afghanistan conflict, with several countries experiencing significant casualties.
