Gaza Border Reopening and Security Measures
On Thursday, twenty-five Palestinians returned to Gaza through the Rafah crossing after its partial reopening. The returnees reported a challenging journey involving Israeli security protocols. Additionally, patients requiring urgent medical treatment are being transported to the border.
The Rafah crossing, the only route in and out of Gaza for the majority of its inhabitants, was closed for most of the recent conflict and has reopened under a ceasefire agreement. The crossing is now allowing the return of Palestinians who left during the conflict, as well as the evacuation of patients needing medical care outside Gaza. However, strict security screenings are in place for those traveling both ways.
Medical Evacuations and Challenges
Thirteen Palestinian patients, accompanied by family members and World Health Organization representatives, were transferred for medical treatment abroad. Despite the agreement that 50 patients would be evacuated daily, only about 30 have been transferred this week, indicating a slower pace than needed to address the medical requirements of approximately 20,000 patients.

Continued Conflicts
Despite the ceasefire, Israeli attacks in Gaza persist. Recent reports indicate air strikes and artillery shelling in various regions, including Khan Younis and Gaza City’s Tuffah neighborhood. These ongoing attacks have caused significant distress among residents, limiting their movement and safety.
