Support for Over 20,000 SMEs Across Europe
The SME AI Accelerator aims to assist more than 20,000 SMEs over the next year by providing free, hands-on training focused on AI applications. The program is accessible to business owners and teams across various sectors, including those without a technical background. It focuses on enhancing productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness through AI tools.
The initiative will be implemented in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Ireland, and the UK through a combination of in-person workshops and virtual training sessions via OpenAI’s AI learning platform, OpenAI Academy. The participation is free, offering AI upskilling, practical guidance, and support tailored to business needs.
SMEs represent 99 percent of businesses in Europe, though AI adoption is not uniform. While large enterprises have integrated AI into their workflows, smaller businesses face challenges in adoption. In 2025, AI adoption among small businesses was 17 percent, compared to 55 percent among large enterprises (Eurostat).
