During a press conference in Moscow, Putin indicated that Russia has observed potential signs from Kyiv suggesting a willingness to enter discussions.

The conflict is approaching its fourth year, with diplomatic efforts intensifying following a renewed push for peace talks. Despite these efforts, negotiations remain stalled due to conflicting demands from both Moscow and Kyiv. Russia has stated that it may seek to expand its territorial gains if its conditions for peace are not met. These conditions include international recognition of Russia's control over four partially occupied Ukrainian regions, as well as Crimea, annexed in 2014. Ukraine has firmly rejected these terms.

The war, which began with Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, continues to significantly impact civilians, especially in frontline areas such as Zaporizhzhia , where ongoing fighting and shelling are reported.
