Cloudflare has recently announced the successful mitigation of a significant Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack, which reached a peak of 11.5 terabits per second (Tbps). This attack, characterized as a User Datagram Protocol (UDP) flood, primarily originated from compromised resources on the Google Cloud Platform.
The attack was detected and neutralized by Cloudflare's automated defense systems within approximately 35 seconds. An image provided by Cloudflare illustrates the rapid escalation to 11.5 Tbps before the situation was brought under control.
Cloudflare's systems autonomously identified and mitigated the threat, underscoring the importance of automated defenses in modern cybersecurity. These technologies are crucial for addressing cyberattacks that can emerge and dissipate rapidly.
