Rocket 1.0: The Indian Startup Turning AI into a McKinsey-Style Consultant
Indian startup Rocket launches a platform to automate product strategy, aiming to replace high-cost consulting with AI-driven business intelligence.

Beyond Execution: Rocket Targets the "What to Build" Dilemma
As generative AI makes writing code increasingly effortless, an Indian startup is betting that the real value lies not in execution, but in strategy. Rocket, based in Surat, India, officially launched its Rocket 1.0 platform on Tuesday, aiming to automate the complex process of product consulting and competitive intelligence.
While tools like Cursor, Replit, and Claude Code have commoditized software development—a trend often referred to as "vibe coding"—Rocket seeks to fill the strategic vacuum that precedes the first line of code.
“Everyone can generate the code now... it has become a commodity," said Vishal Virani, co-founder and CEO of Rocket. "But what to build is something which everyone is missing. Running a business and just building a codebase are two different things.”
A "Consultant in a Box"
The Rocket 1.0 platform integrates research, product construction, and competitive intelligence into a singular workflow. By moving beyond simple chatbots, the platform generates comprehensive product strategy documents in PDF format. These reports cover essential business metrics, including:
As generative AI makes writing code increasingly effortless, an Indian startup is betting that the real value lies not in execution, but in strategy.
- Pricing strategies and unit economics.
- Go-to-market (GTM) recommendations.
- Product Requirement Documents (PRDs).
- Competitive tracking, including website changes and traffic trends.
To power these insights, Rocket aggregates data from over 1,000 sources, utilizing Meta’s ad libraries, Similarweb’s API, and proprietary web crawlers.
Pricing and Market Positioning
Rocket is positioning itself as a cost-effective alternative to high-priced management consulting firms. The startup offers a tiered subscription model:
- $25/month: Basic application building.
- $250/month: Strategy and research capabilities, capable of generating what Virani describes as "McKinsey-grade" reports.
- $350/month: Full platform access, including advanced competitive intelligence.
Early testing of the platform suggests that while the output is sophisticated, it is largely synthesized from existing market data. Users are advised to validate the AI-generated strategies against real-world conditions before committing significant capital.
Rapid Growth and Backing
Since raising a $15 million seed round in September from heavyweights like Accel, Salesforce Ventures, and Together Fund, Rocket has seen explosive user growth. The company reports expanding from 400,000 to over 1.5 million users across 180 countries.
Financially, the startup claims an annualized average revenue per user (ARPU) of roughly $4,000, operating with gross margins exceeding 50%. Small and medium-sized businesses currently make up 20–30% of its customer base.
With a team of 57 employees split between Surat and Palo Alto, Rocket is attempting to lead a new wave of "Strategy AI," proving that in the age of automation, the most valuable asset isn't the hammer—it's the blueprint.
