A senior Japanese Football Association official has been sentenced to an 18-month suspended jail term in France for viewing child pornography images during a flight. The individual, Masanaga Kageyama, was arrested at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris during a layover en route to Chile.
The incident was reported by the flight crew who noticed Kageyama viewing inappropriate images on his laptop. French authorities have charged him with importing, possessing, recording, or saving pornographic images of a minor below the age of 15. The sentence includes:
An 18-month suspended jail term A fine of 5,000 euros (approximately $5,830) A 10-year ban on working with minors A ban on returning to France for the duration of the sentence Inclusion in the French national sex offenders’ register
The individual, Masanaga Kageyama, was arrested at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris during a layover en route to Chile.
During his court appearance, Kageyama admitted to the charges, expressing regret and claiming unawareness of the legal implications in France. He was released following his court hearing.
Masanaga Kageyama holds the position of technical director at the Japanese Football Association. His responsibilities include enhancing the performance of Japan's football teams, educating coaches, and developing youth players. Kageyama has previously played in the J-League and has coached various J-League clubs, as well as Japan's under-20, under-19, and under-18 teams.
