An unnamed star of the BBC’s flagship dance competition, Strictly Come Dancing, will not face criminal charges following an investigation into allegations of rape, police confirmed on Tuesday.
The individual, whose identity has remained confidential throughout the proceedings, was originally arrested in London on October 13, 2025. Following a period of bail that was extended through early 2026, the investigation has now been formally closed.
The Police Investigation
Hertfordshire Constabulary released a statement clarifying that the decision followed extensive inquiries and consultation with legal authorities.
"Early advice was sought from the Crown Prosecution Service, but detectives determined that there was insufficient evidence to bring forward criminal charges," a spokesperson for the force stated.
The individual, whose identity has remained confidential throughout the proceedings, was originally arrested in London on October 13, 2025 .
The individual’s bail had been extended on January 6 until Tuesday, April 7, 2026, to allow for further investigation. With the conclusion of this period, police confirmed the man "will face no further action."
Background of the Allegations
The arrest was first reported by The Sun, which suggested the alleged incident occurred after a BBC event. The complainant was reportedly not a professional dancer or a celebrity contestant on the show but had met the individual through his involvement with the production.
It is understood that the allegations were not linked to the most recent series of the competition, which is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood.
A Period of Scrutiny for the Production
This case follows a separate and unrelated incident from August 2025, when another man associated with Strictly Come Dancing—whose specific role was not disclosed—was arrested by the Metropolitan Police on suspicion of rape and "non-consensual intimate image abuse."
The BBC has not issued a formal comment on the conclusion of the Hertfordshire investigation. Strictly Come Dancing remains one of the UK's most popular television programs, typically airing between September and December each year.
