TikTok has announced the establishment of its first data center in Latin America, to be located at the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex in Ceará. The total investment for the project is expected to surpass R$200 billion, with R$108 billion earmarked for high-tech equipment through 2035. The initial phase is scheduled to commence operations in 2027.
The project will be executed in collaboration with Omnia, a data center operator from the Pátria Investimentos group, and Casa dos Ventos, a company recognized for its work in renewable energy in Brazil. TikTok has emphasized the significance of the Northeast region as a hub for digital projects. The initiative is expected to generate over 4,000 jobs in construction and operations, benefiting sectors such as energy, logistics, and specialized services.
The data center will operate entirely on renewable energy, sourced from newly constructed wind farms dedicated to this project. This approach will augment Ceará's energy capacity without burdening the existing grid. Casa dos Ventos is a key partner in supporting this energy model.

To minimize water consumption, the facility will implement a global closed-loop cooling system, utilizing air-cooled water recirculation and energy-efficient equipment to maintain building temperatures. Additionally, the use of PG25 technology will enable servers to function efficiently at higher temperatures, reducing the energy required for cooling and enhancing operational efficiency.
Ceará's location is strategically significant due to its proximity to Fortaleza, a major landing point for submarine cables connecting Brazil with Europe and Africa. This geographical positioning, coupled with Brazil's robust renewable energy resources and a well-connected national grid, makes it an attractive site for data center investments.
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has expressed support for the project, noting its potential to drive technological advancement in Brazil. A provisional measure signed in September incentivizes data center construction by offering tax exemptions on certain equipment imports, aligning with the country’s ambitions for digital infrastructure development.
