Expedia Group has released findings from research conducted by Censuswide, indicating a positive outlook for business travel over the next three years. Among 214 senior decision-makers surveyed, 95% of travel management company (TMC) leaders expressed optimism about the future.
Despite increasing demand for corporate travel programs, challenges in execution remain. The report, titled "The Future of Business Travel: Is Market Optimism Outpacing Capability," highlights that expectations for traveler services are rising. Key areas of focus include:
Blended trip planning: 85% Booking simplicity: 84% Loyalty rewards: 83% Personalization: 81% Mobile booking: 76%
However, only 30% to 40% of TMC leaders feel very confident in meeting these needs, particularly among larger TMCs with complex operations.
Carolina Cabero, SVP at Expedia Group B2B, emphasized the dual nature of the current business travel landscape, describing it as a period of "immense opportunity" and "immense pressure." She noted that while leaders understand traveler desires, many doubt their systems' capabilities to deliver.

Closing this gap is crucial. Integrated platforms enhanced by AI and investments in technology, such as Expedia Group B2B's extended Rapid API offering, are seen as solutions for TMCs to meet rising expectations, adapt quickly, and lead confidently in the business travel market.
Furthermore, all respondents have adopted AI, with 97% investing in automation and real-time data analytics, although less than half believe their technology budgets are adequate.
